Ah shit, look at this. Promo released a ton of material on the Third Movement. The first thing to mention is clearly the rerelease of his own album “Last Men Standing” from 2001. But there’s way more than that. On this release you can also find a ton of additional material. So instead of the 16 tracks on the original album you now have 44. Apart from that, there are also two additional remix EPs. Personally, there was not too much for me on the releases, however since there was so much material, I found a handful of very good […]
If you are also here for the more historical pieces, then this might be of interest for you. The Outside Agency just started their Crossbreed Legacy Series. For the first episode they arranged a journey through some of the material that influenced the Outside Agency back then. So, as you may have guessed already, they know how to pick some quality tunes for their personal history lesson. 00:00 DJ Luna-C – I Know U (D’Cruze Remix) [1993]03:29 Hardsequencer – Hypnotizing Unhappiness [1993]05:49 Pinhead – Slammin’ Beatz [1993]07:20 Hardliners – Motherfuckin’ Breakbeat [1993]09:07 Citrus – Fascination [1993]12:00 Defqon – Brainwasher [1992]15:19 […]
The next mix is really fallen out of time. Well, literally… It is a recording of a DJ Scud set from 2018 and seriously breathtaking. You’ll have a hard time finding anything that compares to this. I’m very impressed by this incredible piece of art. The progression of the mix is so nice, it’s really pushing boundaries. Sure, it’s partially very experimental, but isn’t that also what we’re here for? Apart from this mix, it’s also highly recommended to check out his other sets on soundcloud. There’s a lot of cool stuff to discover. The sets a very thoughtful und […]
The latest PRSPCT podcast is a live recording from PRSPCT XL earlier this month. As always, Li-Z delivers pretty neat transitions with all the weird music in the world you can find. Her mix really shines thanks to her extraordinary great taste. Especially the breakbeat lovers will enjoy this, but not only them. There’s also a lot hammering hardcore in it, too 😊 PRSPCT Recordings · PRSPCT PDCST 090 – Li-Z live at PRSPCT XL32 Hellfish – Severe BreakageAnna Morgan – GraceErik Burka – VentspillHeadbanger – Sweet DreamsThys, Nicholas Thayer – Go AgainJuggernaut – XTC MotherfuckerEprom – RemorseSamurai Breaks – […]
Here’s a live recording of Nihil Fist’s DJ set at Fuckparade 2023. Obviously, it’s noisy as hell and for those of you who dig Speed- and Splittercore. Definitely not for the faint-of-hearted, but it’s Nihil Fist, so what else would you expect 🙂 Nihil Fist · Nihil Fist – DJ-set @ Fuckparade'23
Nekrolog1k has always been a splendid address for hard electronic music. For a Hong Kong Violence party, label owner Ak-Industry played a set to remember. It’s been on heavy rotation for quite some time here and is a must have for industrial lovers. The track selection is magnificent and shows the diversity of Hardcore. Nekrolog1k Recordings · AK-INDUSTRY @ HONG KONG VIOLENCE IN SEDAN (Neks BDAY Bash)
There is no doubt that AI penetrates everything nowadays and music is no exception to that. But this of course can mean so much. AI as a tool offers many new interesting approaches to music creation. This can lead to many results, but in the end we are here for the weird shit. So that’s why you get weird shit. Martsman provides us with one excellent example to show you how far you can go already. For this release Martsman used Realtime Audio Variational autoEncoder (RAVE). Briefly explained, you feed music to RAVE and it learns from it. The program […]
The second mix for Praxis records by 0bleak showcases a broad variety of abstract electronic music from all over the globe. This diversity is also represented in a very tasty tracklist. The mix really dives into an otherworldly environment, unknown the most of us yet. But even though there’s so much to discover here, you can find structure everywhere. Sometimes extremely mutilated, but apparently, it’s necessary. Oh yes it is! Doomsday Conduit on Acroplane Records is the latest installment by the brothers Paul & John Healy better known as Somatic Responses. As usual they show great taste in heavily distorted soundscapes mixed with some of the strangest acid lines you’ve heard so far. And of course, not to forget their breakbeat-wizardry that really drives the tracks through several dimensions. The album is an insane trip with 10 equally enjoyable chapters which all sound very inviting – and always different. Some of these chapters are darker and rougher than others, but in general the overall theme appears to be very glitchy […]
It’s so good to hear some new – well, or to be precise old – stuff from Paul Blackout. This highly gifted DJ has not only an unprecedented taste in music, he also has the skills to knock out any other DJ. The mix is labelled on Soundcloud as early Crossbreed, but it’s definitely more than that! Only bangers ahead, so buckle up! Well, the waiting is finally over! Even though the world is shattered to pieces, there are some things that help you deal with all the bullshit. And this album is definitely one of the silver linings on the horizon. After a slight delay, the Silence present their first full-length album. Words like mind-blowing couldn’t even describe what the album achieved. This is hardcore at it’s peak. It has everything, features old and new, and manages to be innovative at all points. The sound design is just brilliant. Distortion never sounded any better. This clarity and production value is outstanding. Apart […]
As probably everyone of us is now familiar with the disruptive power of AI technology, we entered a new stage of technical evolution. And this of course does not only concern visual arts (and everything else). Equally, you can now create music with the help of AI and even though the results vary a lot regarding quality, this has come a long way and will evolve much further in the upcoming years. So anyway, a few days ago we had an email from Low Entropy in our inbox. And while we are still wondering what AI can do when it […]
After his first album “Unboxed” on PRSPCT last year, Tripped came up with another full length release just recently. Even though the first release was very impressive, the second one lifts this bouncy in-your-face Hardcore style that Tripped is famous for on a new level. It’s great to see that his style develops continuously, but you can still recognize his signature sound. The album features 10 tracks, including a pretty noisy intro with a savory kick drum filter extravaganza. As this sets the tone for the rest of the album, the tracks on it cover a bright palette and include […]
Technically speaking this is not a new release. Instead, it’s a rerelease of an absolute classic EP by none other than the Outside Agency. After nearly 2 decades these tracks finally see the light of day again. I personally waited for a proper digital download forever – basically since the day I discovered the release. Originally it was released on Hong Kong Violence in 2007, and has been unmatched ever since. The sound design with it’s Kung-Fu samples is just bonkers. The release sounds still super fresh and even in 2023 there is nobody who could compete with TOA in […]
Only few releases have the class to cast a spell over you. But luckily, there exist some breathtaking exceptions. Even though the name G.xist didn’t ring a bell or anything so far, the artist managed to produce an atmospheric trip into the unknown. With six utterly different tracks, G.xist pushed the boundaries of sonic exploration. The rhythms do not sound too alien, but still run differently than most electronic music. It therefore also questions your listening habits. But again, it’s not too far away, from what you maybe already appreciate. It’s absolutely worth checking out, especially on a rainy afternoon. […]
Every now and then everybody needs some quality roughneck Ragga Jungle tunes. Alzoc III is not only a fictional planet, it’s also the alter ego of Vincent van Sloth, who’s widely known for his Breakcore fever dreams. In stark contrast to his previous releases, this release on UKJ, goes back to more classic breakbeat mutilation business and sounds like an authentic mid 90s piece of jungle. The release is at least as massive as 3 times the Mount Everest, but maybe a bit more approachable. Or is it? UK Jungle Presents: Alzoc III – U Devilz EP by Alzoc III
The first album by „Noneless” from Australia dives into unexplored musical depths. It’s a very interesting piece that shows ingenuity and curiosity in sound design that’s often lacking in nowadays productions. But not here. Definitely not! With “A vow of Silence” you get everything but not silence. Instead, the album features tons of influences from other genres, mixed with partially ethnic sounding vocal samples, garnished with hectic percussions. The textures are rich and range from abstract atmospheres to very harsh noisescapes. Some tracks stick out due to their ear pleasing qualities, others because they attack your eardrums and show no […]
After 15 Years in the Business, Suck Puck Records celebrates its very own existence with the already 9th installment of the Fuk the Borders series. As you may expect already, the Compilation features everything relentless breakbeat music has to offer. It has a little bit of everything. Literally everything… The compilation offers more or less classic Jungle vibes, as well as super happy breaks, bouncy beats, but also grim and glitchy pieces that don’t fit any formula at all. For 7 Bucks it’s a steal, so consider buying that stuff! It also comes with great artwork which is available as […]
The Relic’s mix for Hidden Room nearly 4-hour journey into madness. The track selection is on point and the mixing is tight. The overall theme is dark and it’s packed with acid lines. The most recent release by Bong-Ra represents a beautiful take on dark Jungle. The breaks are super solid and well programmed, the synths sound grim and fierce, and the overall sound design brings happiness to our dark hearts. This is not an “in-your-face” release, it’s even a bit reserved. A thoughtful approach to discover the essence of true dark Jungle Breaks. Vaseline by Bong-Ra
The latest Laxenanchaos release “Singing Breakbeats Timeless Travel With You” is a nice and short EP which can be described as an outer space breakcore EP maybe. The EP delivers a little bit of everything from very hard, to bouncy and even dreamy. Singing Breakbeats Timeless Travel With You by Laxenanchaos
It’s rare that you come across some music and think: “Wow, that’s really something else!” of course “Sustained Resistance” by Maelstrom & Louisahhh is not entirely new music, but the way this duo combines different strains of music and weaves them together into a seminal piece of art (well, it’d dare to call it that way) is simply amazing. The tracks themselves are emotionally charged amalgamations of hard electronic music. You find traces of so many different genres here – luckily, only the good ones. No seriously, it’s absolutely worth listening, especially for those of you who are looking for […]
Neurocore always had his signature sound that cannot be compared to anything else in in the Hardcore world. This wonderful exception to the rule features sonically diverse and mesmerizing sounds that will drag you away from what your everyday experiences might have to offer. The tracks are produced with great attention to detail. It’s very outer spacey, deep and thoughtful. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast, but all the time very convincing. At times it feels like a movie soundtrack with its sensitive soundscapes. A very beautiful release that stands alone in the universe with music that meanders from super silky sounds […]
Sadly, it remains unclear who produced this album. But it doesn’t matter that much. It’s all about the bass and the breaks here. Since there’s not much Drum and Basss featured on this blog, it’s great to find an album overstuffed with excellently crafted dnb slammers. The soundspheres are menacing and the bass is as low as possible. The drum breaks are also from another planet. They are hitting hard but are also sound super clean and present at the same time. The album features 12 slamming tracks and all of them are worth a listen! COVERT:TWO by Tech Itch […]
It may come as a surprise that we post such an old mix, but then on the other hand, why not? It’s a great mix by none other than Mark N himself. This mix really sums up how relentless and unforgiving hardcore was 20 years ago. There are people claiming that you can find copies of this mix lying on certain servers. I would not recommend to specifically look for them on well-known internet search engines. So anyway, it’s a great historic mix that should be played at every occasion on full blast 😊 dj.mark.n.australia · DJ Mark N […]
The latest album by Void settler “Bell, Book & Candle” came out recently on the Third Movement and is definitely one of a kind. The album feasts on so many musical traditions, but breaks and rearranges them all the time. Obviously, you find traces of hardcore and tons of distortion everywhere. But apart from that, the record also features gothic soundscapes, orchestral elements and choirs from hell. The musical structures of the tracks do not follow any conventional formula. And this is what makes the album really stand out. It’s demanding, it’s really questioning your listening habits. But it always […]
This producer mix from Indian Junglist is a total blast. High paced breakbeats, crazy fast kick drums and tons of ravey vocals make this mix a no brainer. This is must for dancefloor oriented destruction. And let’s be honest, nothing beats mashing up everything you can get your hands on. And Indian Junglist definitely delivers, no doubt! The new or more precisely first album by 10 CLS has been around for quite some time already, but there are tons of reasons to shine light on this outstanding release. The mastermind behind 10 CLS is also known to the broader public as Ophidian. And this alone should ring a bell. He is one of the most impressive electronic producers of all time and moreover always interested in creating more and more projects, diving deep and deeper into musical realms that take you farther and farther away from your genre specific comfort zone. But enough about the artist, what […]
