Even though the previous I:Gor remaster came out not that long ago, he didn’t waste any more time and released this amazing remaster of some “Lost and Found” tracks. Again – believe it or not – this stuff is hard as nails and brings joy to every Hardcore head. The release includes twelve tracks from his early days. Recommended to basically everyone who’s into distortion. LOST and FOUND by I:GOR Records
After three already quite extensive remasters of his music, I:Gor released some further old music from his catalogue. This time the focus mainly lies on Breakcore and Speedcore stuff, but also some Dubstep made its way onto the release – and stuff you barely have words for. With 20 tracks in total on the release, you receive tons of quality tunes. Some have been exclusively available on vinyl until now. Everything on the album sounds unique even after more than two decades. These tracks all follow their own distinct style and never loose pace, also thanks to the amazing choice […]
A fellow DJ from our home area recorded a set for Bloody Feet. Motus is nearly deaf, but still mixes better than most DJs with an active sync button. The mix features lots of Drum and Bass but most of the time with an unhealthy dose of amen breaks. A mix for people who dig Tech Step and high-end drum programming. This guy is also doing live streams on a regular basis. Make sure to check this out, too! twitch.tv/motus_vinyl
After his latest EP on PRSPCT two years ago, Krytika returns to the label with a new three track release. The general vibe of the EP fits easily into the realm of Hardcore with a bit of Crossbreed woven into it. The two original tracks feature very atmospheric soundscapes spiked with high-end kickdrum assaults. Even the DNGNS DRGNS guys (Deathmachine and Dolphin) provided a fresh remix of “Infinite Nothingness” for the release. It is a bit more drum heavy and thus fits open-minded Drum and Bass crowds as well. Infinite Nothingness by Krytika All in all, every track on the […]
Whenever you see a Peter Kurten mix, you should quickly tune in. For the latest Barcode podcast, he selected a quick and dirty little journey from hard Drum and Bass to Crossbreed. With the mix he’s celebrating his first price in the Blackhole remix competition. The track’s of course also in the mix and as mentioned already, you know what to expect. Tracklist: BARCODE RECORDINGS · Filthcast 062 featuring Peter Kurten
Even though not everybody is as much into snares as DJ Hidden, this mix is a good way to dive into dark Drum and Bass with a special focus on the harder styles. Lots of us still dig the percussive sound that was popular in sub-genres such as darkstep, halfstep, skullstep and so on. This mix is basically a best of that captures the essence of this snare driven sound perfectly. The mixing is obviously pretty nice, as expected from DJ Hidden. Moreover, this is apparently only part 1, so stay tuned for the next episode! 01. Limewax – Untitled […]
Over the course of only a few years, Offish Productions has become a great source for hard-hitting, technical Drum and Bass. The label not only manages to put out high-quality content all time, it also reaches out for new talents and offers them a platform. Acid Lab is the newest member on the label. This very talented producer clearly knows how to chop apart breaks and rearrange them properly. The style is futuristic and sinister, a bit tribalistic, but also reminiscent of Drum and Bass from a long-forgotten past. The EP offers relatively calm and dreamy Halfstep, pushing Techstep but […]
The debut EP by Erratic Engine on EXE Project is an absolute slammer of a hard Drum and Bass release. It is rare that an EP leaves such an impact. The 3-tracker is obviously a great homage to a long forgotten time, when this was the preferred sound on the dancefloors. The production value is simply amazing. The drums are banging, the basses are booming and the atmospheres are haunting! But it is also the vocal power of Crystal that lifts the second track “Colour” to new heights. Everything sounds so fresh, even though the tracks obviously trigger the listener’s […]
Here’s another recommendation for the breakbeat lovers out there. LXC rereleased a ton of material from 2001 to 2008. “Connewoodz” is a disturbing portrait of a long-gone era of Leipzig’s – or more precisely Connewitz’ – break-heavy history. Again, this EP shows the versatility of an artist who dedicated his life to drum breaks and heavy basslines. While the tracks mostly fit into the realm of Drum and Bass and Jungle quite well, there is also a special vibe to all of them. It’s the oddness that makes the release stand out – and not easy to categorize. You can’t […]
The most recent release by Grey Meta features a nice selection of remixes of Anorak’s “Reformulated” EP on the label from 2023. All 7 tracks follow their individual direction that span a wide range of music. This audio excursion into rough territory includes Breakcore, Hardcore, Jungle, Techno and lots of other genres that can barely be defined. With tracks by DFZD, Dolphin, Scheme Boy, Jacob, Technoist, MacheeeN Boi and Anorak himself, you know that you can’t go wrong. Each track features its own characteristics, but also manages to draw a clear line to the originals. And of course, the breaks […]
Who would have expected this to happen? Forbidden Society actually dropped a brand-new hard Drum and Bass album. As the name already suggests ‘To the Threshold Part 2’ is a worthy successor and a nice surprise for all the fans who wished for more of his older style. The sound design is really close to the original and you can instantly recognize Forbidden Society’s handwriting. Another super loud album that clearly states what hard Drum and Bass stands for. With a total of 13 tracks there’s a lot to hear. A highlight on the album is surely Darkhold. This amen […]
This free release by Nanonstorm on The Third Movement features three remixes of his own tracks. All of them have their distinctive style and show the versatility of Nanostorm’s productions. The I-Can't-Believe-They're-Free Remixes by Nanostorm
Well, usually talking about and listening to music at the same time can be annoying as hell, but in this case, it’s working out smoothly. Geck-O aka the Funky Cat invited Eye-D (yeah that guy from the Outside Agency and Ghost in the Machine) for his show called ‘the Funky Tracks’. The format is pretty cool and gives artists such as Eye-D an opportunity to talk about tracks they love, that inspire them, feature elements they dig a lot (apparently, it’s choirs for this fella), and also about their own productions. This is the perfect show for people who want […]
Believe it or not, it’s been 8 years already since we invited Mathlovsky to come to Erfurt in 2016. It was our first Ausnahmezustand party at AJZ Erfurt after we left Gera. So many things have changed since then for us but also of course for Mathlovsky. Reason enough to get back to him and ask him a few questions about what he’s been up to lately. And well, apparently, there is a lot to discover about his past, present and future! If you want to read more on his upcoming album, future art projects and lots of good music […]
After 2 already quite exhausting parties, we finished this year’s party season early at MVZ in Jena. The night was not the smoothest in our history, but in the end we all had a very good time. Again, the lineup was so on point. For this edition we put all the focus on industrial hardcore in all its glory. While we sadly cannot provide all the sets of that night, we have at least something for you that leaves no room for discussion. The set by Aura Kamikura is such a beast. Effortlessly, it meanders through the industrial remains of […]
Even though the recorder somehow quit during the night (we feel you), we could capture some absolutely noteworthy sets from an incredible event. It was a blast from the beginning to the end. Special thanks to LXC for recording and preparing the files! Seriously what a night! Of course, in the name of everyone I thank everybody for this great unforgettable party. The vibe was excellent and as far as we can tell, you thought the same. Such an incredible crowd and unmatched lineup. All the acts of the night were outstanding. I rarely have witnessed something similar in a […]
By now we all know that Enduser couldn’t make it to our party in Leipzig, but on the bright side he is busy with tons of music projects. Recently he released a 2 tracker with – you guessed it – very technical, hard-hitting drum and bass. The EP keeps a very moody and melancholic vibe throughout both tracks and kinda also sets the tone for this time of the year. Where I Found You / Facemask by enduser Enduser and Nowan also released another 2 track EP the same day. However, this one is actually the teaser for Nowan’s upcoming […]
Wow, honestly, who would you have guessed that this is actually happening? Forbidden Society is coming back to his roots. No shit, on December 5th he is going to release “To the Threshold Part 2”. Sadly, we don’t have the album to review, but this mix is already a nice peak into the future. If you like the old Forbidden Society crossbreed stuff, enjoy extremely loud mixdowns and love metal snares then you should have a good 30 minutes ahead of you. Enjoy the mix, while we have to wait patiently for the album! BARCODE RECORDINGS · Filthcast 058 featuring […]
The latest Fuk The Borders compilation is surely a big one. It’s hard to pin down what’s on there exactly, but it’s worth discovering. Without a doubt it’s an excellent collection of super strange music. When people say that music is boring nowadays they clearly have not heard of this stuff. For 9€ it is also a bargain! Fuk The Borders 11 by Suck Puck Compilations
For some reason the aesthetics of chiptune music along with crushed breakbeats create a very peculiar vibe. Of course, this somehow always triggers some nostalgia, be it from video game soundtracks or early rave records. This grittiness has been captured so perfectly with the “Chipbreak Alliance” compilation by the Sydney City Chiptune Ministries. While the name alone means serious business, so does also the compilation itself. With a compilation of this size, you wouldn’t believe that there are so many good tracks on it. The range of tracks is wide and every one of them features a ton of breaks. […]
Well, this time, you can not only get your hands on some decent tunes, moreover you can get a whole sample pack on top for free. Actually, the EP was originally released 2 years ago on Dancefloor Impact Research and now has been rereleased along with the samples on Somatic Responses’ own bandcamp account. All 3 original tracks by Somatic Responses are as usual unmatched. Especially convincing are also the additional 3 remixes by FFF, 1clap and Enduser. Each and every track on this EP delivers a rich and colorful palette of sounds. The whole release sticks out due to […]
Even though he has been around for quite a while, especially recently Krytikas’s tracks and mixes had a lot of impact. The most recent recording from a party is no exception. This mix reminds me of some good old hardcore drum and bass parties. The sound and the tracklist are great, hard and in your face, but not too much for the dancing crowd to bear. Whenever you are in desperate need of some hard slamming amens, you know that you can always turn to Smyla. His latest promomix shows his extraordinary breakbeat programming skills and the variety of musical influences he draws from. Sure a mix worth tuning in! Varispeed · Smyla – Varispeed Promo Mix 2024
Another collection of rather old tracks comes from Air J. Maybe some of you remember this guy. His works explicitly addresses people who are not afraid of snares. While his style usually centers around Hard Drum and Bass it oftentimes mutates into Crossbreed and Hardcore. Recently, he uploaded all of his old tracks which were written between 2007 and 2022 on bandcamp. For only 5€ you can get a whopping 51 tracks. In addition, there are remixes and collaborations with Peter Kurten, T-Psy and Brainpain, just to name a few. If you do not feel like going through 51 tracks, […]
Known as a Breakcore and Drum and Bass veteran, Amboss returns to Praxis Records with a 10 track album. The album is a collection of previously unreleased tracks which were written between 2000 and 2003. Accordingly, this album is for everyone who wishes to go back to the early 2000s and to the relentless breakbeat violence from this era. All tracks feature severely destroyed soundscapes but in the best way possible. You could even go that far and call it a timeless release. For 5€ you receive a bunch of pretty cool tracks, so definitely consider it! Basic Training (praxis_01001) […]
Right in between Jungle and Drum and Bass sits this excellent piece of breakbeat wizardry. The free album by Evasion, Conman & Mod:Co Perfectly shows how heavy basslines can be. With a timeless sound design it shows versatility and sounds classic but still futuristic. The Polish label Offish is also offering all their digital releases for free. Maybe consider spending some time on their bandcamp page. There’s a lot to discover from dozens of incredible artists. Blind Sighted by Evasion, Conman & Mod:Co
With tracks that are nearly 20 years old now already, you can’t hardly speak of a new release. However, Raiden took some time and effort to remaster some of his old classics and that’s the result. This EP features only collabs with the drum and bass mastermind Current Value. The featured tracks here are rolling as deep as your sub can go. Especially RM Bleeps has always been an excellent choice for any dancefloor. But also, the other tracks also could easily convince any drum and bass hater to even move a leg. All in all, it was a nice […]
Hell yeah, here’s the next completely free release for you. This compilation on Ohm Resistance from Estonia comes with a whopping 23 tracks ranging from Drum and Bass to Crossbreed, some Hardcore, but also very slow and sludgy electronics. Yeah, it’s pretty cool, seriously, the variety of artists on this release makes it really stand out. Since it’s free there’s also nothing to lose! Give it a listen and maybe consider donating a few bucks, if you want to support the label. APHELION 2023 by Various Artists
EXE Project is giving away some crazy good futuristic DnB for free at the moment. The compilation which consists of 9 tracks features tracks from their previous releases – the only difference, it’s for free! Since EXE Project is synonymous with quality shit, also their artists are. You receive tracks from artists such as Crawler, Gore Tech, Blockdata just to name a few. Getting this release is an absolute no brainer. However, the label would most probably appreciate a few bucks, if you got some spare money. EXE-D012 – EXE Project Label Sampler by EXE Project
Right before the year ends, the Dekmantel Mix from the DJ Producer came out. And as with every DJ Producer mix this really defines new standards. The mixing is clearly amazing and the tracks are nicely selected. The set’s quite diverse and shows a lot in little time. dekmantel · The DJ Producer at Dekmantel Festival 2023
