Marlen – Dream & Lure

Marlen has been featured on this blog already. This French Eurorack wizard is undoubtedly shaking up the Hardcore right now. His productions on “Dream & Lure” showcase perfectly why this is a producer you should keep an ear on. The four-tracker also highlights that you can perfectly blend Techno and Hardcore hemispheres without losing any of the magic of each individual genre.   Without a doubt his latest EP is also one of his most impressive works up until now. The four tracks on the EP have a great drive that makes them extremely well suited for dancers worldwide. What […]

Mathlovsky – Your Money Has No Power Over Me

The Belgian musical madman Mathlovsky surprised us with a brand new three-tracker on Murder Channel. “Your Money Has No Power Over Me” is a manifest of Mathlovsky’s versatility. This dubsteppish release is accordingly relatively slow, but that’s no problem at all.  It’s still deeply saturated and captures the very essence of Hardcore nicely. Due to the slower pace of the EP, it can be mixed with other styles. Or you can easily shake up a Hardcore or a Dubstep set with one of the tracks. Definitely works great both ways. It’s a release with lots of potential, same as with […]

Collected: Into The Dark Lands – Chronicles of the Pale Wanderer

When it comes to releasing the biggest and nastiest compilations ever, usually the price goes to Dark.Descent. And well, guess what, they did it again. 75 tracks, yes seventy-five, all carefully collected and selected from the last 25 releases on the label. This is clearly your chance to catch up with everything you missed recently. As it is always the case with Dark.Descent the selected tracks are as dark as it gets. Rock solid Hardcore, Techno, Doomcore, everything in between and a lot more. Since it is so much music, you really need to check it out yourself. It’s impossible […]

Scared Money Records – Signal For Jamaica

As you may have heard, Jamaica was hit severely by Hurricane Melissa. The country in the Caribbean suffers terribly and needs help. If you want to help, you can find an organization of your choice or maybe consider buying this EP from Scared Money Records. The label will donate everything to The American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ). Since it feels a bit wrong to focus on the release now, it’s definitely worth noting that the 14 tracks on this release are super good. Absolutely top notch Ragga Jungle business through and through. But yeah, as good as the release is, […]

DJBadshape – Dubcore Volume 27

So far, we only knew DJBadshape as a rough and tough DJ, but were unaware of her producing skills. Thus, we didn’t expect such a breathtaking – or maybe better floor breaking – EP. For the latest installment of the Dubcore Series, this is number 27 already, DJBadshape provided four tracks that could broadly be categorized as Jungle. The tracks show the wide range this aspiring producer is capable of. No track on this release sounds like the other, yet they all feature a specific signature sound. You can tell at all times that they are still related somehow. One […]

Dolphin & The Teknoist – Ppl Gon Bleed

There is a new Dolphin and The Teknoist EP that came out not long ago on PRSPCT. “Ppl Gon Bleed” is the absolute battle weapon for every dancefloor. Each track stands out for itself. The title track is surely a lot of fun and a bit stupid (but of course in the best way imaginable). The other two tracks are equally well crafted and also worth checking out. Both individual tracks by Dolphin and The Teknoist are crammed with Hip Hop-Hardcore aesthetics. The last tune even features Flowdan on the lyrics. Didn’t expect this! Well, now go grab your copy! […]

Adamant Scream – No Man’s Land EP

Another 3-tracker dropped recently by Adamant Scream. “No Man’s Land” is equally in your face as it is thoughtful. The EP is relatively slow, kicking off at only 130 BPM, climbs to 150 and ends at 140. While the first and the last track carry a more serious vibe, the second track with Minus 25 is a hell of a dancefloor destroyer. It’s ravey, it features stabs, of course pumping kicks, a pretty solid acid line, and a vibe that keeps you stomping at all time. Very nice collection of three distinct tracks that show again that Adamant Scream is […]

Off-Reality™ – Life of a NPC Pt. 1

Here comes another release that does not fit into our already existing genre categorizing system. “LIFE OF A NPC PT.1“ by Off-Reality on Low Res features a nightmarish ambient trip through glitching programs and dying motherboards. It’s astoundingly calm, yet it remains at any time quite threatening. The sounds are equally somehow soft but harsh at the same time. It becomes apparent that this album is a dystopic remnant of a broken future. Furthermore, it raises more questions than it can answer. While playing the album, the listener may find a good starting point at questioning our contemporary place in […]

Kamikaze Space Programme – Tosei Gusoku

This EP on Grey Meta is one the spaciest releases we had here in a while. “Tosei Gusoku” is an interesting piece of contemporary electronic music. On the one hand it is very calm and an introspective listening experience. When I heard the first notes playing, I immediately thought of some ambient similar to Boards of Canada or the like. The sound design is incredibly soothing and it’s wonderful to listen to this. In contrast to that, the last two tracks feature chopped up breaks galore, yet they didn’t loose this eerie space vibe. It may even lift the extraterrestrial […]

Infinity Division – Satisfaction

Even though this album has been out since April, it did not find us until very recently. “Satisfaction” by “Infinity Division” is a superb LP that features 13 tracks in total with some guest appearances by hard electronic masterminds such as Baseck. From the first to the last track this album stands out and delivers ruthless Jungle and Breakcore vibes mixed with Hardcore aesthetics along with some ravey vibes – and occasional beautiful vocals. While the sounds and atmospheres sometimes feel oldschool, it is still a futuristic piece of music that does not only rely on nostalgia. It adds new […]

Void Settler – Withervane

Well, this is clearly one of these albums that does not fit any category. The latest release by Void Settler on TTM is one of a kind Hardcore that can be only experienced and not be described with words. “Withervane” is a raw journey through acoustic universes filled with uncountable influences from genres nobody would ever expect. However, if you are familiar with Void Settler, you might already have an idea that the next hour is going to be intense. The tracks on the album vary greatly from dreamy or moody to harsh, bouncy, extreme – sometimes all in one […]

I:Gor – Lost and Found

Even though the previous I:Gor remaster came out not that long ago, he didn’t waste any more time and released this amazing remaster of some “Lost and Found” tracks. Again – believe it or not – this stuff is hard as nails and brings joy to every Hardcore head. The release includes twelve tracks from his early days. Recommended to basically everyone who’s into distortion. LOST and FOUND by I:GOR Records

I:GOR – SELECTED BREAKCORE AND SPEEDCORE WORX Remastered (2001 – 2009)

After three already quite extensive remasters of his music, I:Gor released some further old music from his catalogue. This time the focus mainly lies on Breakcore and Speedcore stuff, but also some Dubstep made its way onto the release – and stuff you barely have words for. With 20 tracks in total on the release, you receive tons of quality tunes. Some have been exclusively available on vinyl until now. Everything on the album sounds unique even after more than two decades. These tracks all follow their own distinct style and never loose pace, also thanks to the amazing choice […]

Ophidian Blackbox Series 2 (01 + 02)

Another totally unexpected release comes from one of Hardcore’s finest producers out there. Ophidian currently reboots the Blackbox series which was originally released on Enzyme. This series stands for some of the most interesting hard Techno, Hardcore, Industrial crossovers you can find. Definitely consider to also listen to the original Blackbox Series, if you haven’t already! So far there are two digital releases available (three more to come) with two tracks each. First thing you notice is the outstanding sound quality. As usual it’s so crispy clean, yet so dirty and rough. The tracks are a lot of fun, merging […]

Autist – Les Fleurs du Mal

The latest release by Autist on Spirit of Progress consists of three proper Techno tunes that do not follow standard procedure. If you are into bleeps and bloops but also like your beats a bit more rugged, then this might be an interesting release for you. Every track heavily feasts on Acid, but also features industrial and noisy soundscapes. Les Fleurs du Mal by Autist

Xylocaine and Overcast on IR77

Well, talking about labels that we’ve never heard of… Iridium 77 Media or ir77 is an amazing new Australian Label that released two records so far, one by Overcast and one by Xylocaine. If you are familiar with Nasenbluten or Bloody Fist, you are aware that this means trouble. Both EPs are honestly great and totally worth every second of it. While the Overcast record is reminiscent of 90s darkside Jungle record with fantastic atmospheres and interesting breakbeat chops, the one from Xylocaine is just a super entertaining slab of wax. The records are as rough as it gets, each […]

Data Corrupter – Point Zero

So, imagine this. For no particular reason you like the weirdest sound anomalies that anyone can think of. And then, you find this and ask yourself: was I even prepared for this orchestration of synchronized chaos? Point Zero by Data Corruptor was released on Xtraplex Records and is more than a regular album. This is an uncompromising expedition into a futuristic world of machines, computers and lots of technical malfunctions, artifacts and glitches. A journey that is as colorful as it is dark – as it is barley comprehendible. A very nice stress test for your whole nervous system. Not […]

Manu le Malin – Dernière Danse Part. 01 + 02

Every now and then a label pops up and you completely overlook it. Luckily, this one didn’t go unnoticed. MKNK is a decent example of a label that offers hope in a time of – well you know how screwed up everything has become… Anyway, MKNK is the imprint of Manu le Malin or at least he curates it. Moreover, there is a whole Hardcore squad involved from the Astropolis guys, Trasher, and also distros such as Triple Vision. The label also already has a distinct visual direction that really shines. But what about the music? So far, 2 records […]

Needles in the Night – Soft Tissue

Ok, that’s something that wasn‘t on our list yet. Needles in the night is a producer with lots of talent (for more context, this is 50% of Gathering Storm). “Soft Tissue” on Dark.Descent is a noisy, technoish Hardcore release with lots of unique characteristics that fit the label perfectly! Every single track sounds distinct without losing any consistency regarding the overall concept of the EP. The driving rhythms stick out easily when it comes to contemporary Hardcore styles. Everything sounds meticulously crafted. Just listen to the noisescapes and you’ll recognize how lovely and crunchy they are. The sound is surely […]

Eternal Idols : SWARM

One of the most anticipated EP just came out and it was totally worth the wait. The “Eternal Idols” Ep which was released right about 2 years ago on PRSPCT got a proper remix treatment by some of the biggest names in the game as well as some aspiring artists that enrich the scene at the moment with their individual take on Industrial Hardcore. The remix EP was released on Karnage Records and is definitely a nice addition to the already pretty impressive original EP. With 8 tracks it is an all killer no filler release that leads the way. […]

Nagazaki – Alternative Structures

Most readers know Nagazaki most likely from his releases on labels such as Prototypes. Apart from the hard hitting Industrial Hardcore sound we are familiar with, his latest release on Murder Channel is embracing a more cineastic approach. It’s all very thought- and playful with tons of breaks heavily chopped apart. A nice surprise for everyone who is tired of same shit over and over again. Seriously, the whole EP sounds like a very coherent piece of music and is worth every minute of it. Moreover, it is available on a donation basis. Consider also sending a few bucks for […]

Gopnik – Life Is Pain, Hardcore Is Suffering

The first release on Madback from GOPNIK is an outstanding, authentic hardcore EP. It sounds on the one hand as if it fell straight out of a time machine, but on the other hand it still feels absolutely fresh – well, because it is! Super solid piece of wax for hardcore enthusiasts who appreciate harshness and dark atmospheres. With 3 original tracks and a remix by Tripped you get a highly recommended EP that definitely fits in every bag and every set. If you dig the artwork by Tripped, also check out his stuff at creativenoisetrash.com Life Is Pain, Hardcore […]

Kilbourne – If Not To Give A Fantasy

For her latest release on Hammerhead, Kilbourne shows again that Hardcore does not need to be straight forward to work out – it just needs a vision. With seven explicitly odd tracks the EP dives into the weirder Hardcore territories. Some tracks are more challenging than others, but all in all the release leaves the stamped-out paths of contemporary Hardcore. This is another strange yet diverse EP that might be of interest for any person that searches for new input or is bored with the current state of the Hardcore scene. Not saying that the scene is boring in general, […]

Gathering Storm – Industrial Convolution Vol. 1

Despite a sad decline in decent Hardcore, this release is good example of how banging Industrial can sound even with a contemporary sound design. “Industrial Convolution Vol. 1” by Gathering Storm is a quality three track EP that already hints at more to come in the future. The aspiring producer who already had some tracks released on Prototypes shows great appetite for distortion in his productions, no matter what’s the tempo. Industrial Convolution Vol.1 [PR123] by Gathering Storm

Suck Puck – SOOTH 01

Ok top be honest, it is always a tough challenge to describe what’s going on with the Suck Puck compilations. But this time, it’s basically impossible to come up with a solid review. “SOOTH 01” is a new assortment of only the strangest music you can imagine. Don’t expect to understand anything going on here, but you should be able to feel it. There is a lot to discover that once more questions even the broadest concepts of music. This is an experimental glitchspace that knows no boundaries any longer. Most tracks feature dreamy, even magic atmospheres that sound familiar, […]

Somatic Responses – Memory Audit

Buckle up, we are entering weirdo territory. It comes to no surprise that Somatic Responses acidified the core again with their latest release “Memory Audit”. Well actually, this release was only done by Paul Healy according to the release page. Nonetheless, the release has the same outstanding quality as usual. If you feel like entering a world full of acid and strange melodies, this is a good way to start your day. The album features manifold tracks that cover a wide range of musical styles. Of course, it is still hard to come up with words for this music, but […]

Acid Lab – The Unspoken

Over the course of only a few years, Offish Productions has become a great source for hard-hitting, technical Drum and Bass. The label not only manages to put out high-quality content all time, it also reaches out for new talents and offers them a platform. Acid Lab is the newest member on the label. This very talented producer clearly knows how to chop apart breaks and rearrange them properly. The style is futuristic and sinister, a bit tribalistic, but also reminiscent of Drum and Bass from a long-forgotten past. The EP offers relatively calm and dreamy Halfstep, pushing Techstep but […]

Erratic Engine Feat Crystal – Colour EP

The debut EP by Erratic Engine on EXE Project is an absolute slammer of a hard Drum and Bass release. It is rare that an EP leaves such an impact. The 3-tracker is obviously a great homage to a long forgotten time, when this was the preferred sound on the dancefloors. The production value is simply amazing. The drums are banging, the basses are booming and the atmospheres are haunting! But it is also the vocal power of Crystal that lifts the second track “Colour” to new heights. Everything sounds so fresh, even though the tracks obviously trigger the listener’s […]

Zeuge – Aleister’s Meer

“Aleister’s Meer” by Zeuge came out last month on Defunkt. As you may have noticed, his style developed a lot in the recent years. This album here is a good example on where his deconstructive approach leads to. The abstract piece of art surely discovers territories unknown to mankind so far. It features glitchy experiments that do not need structure – at least in a common understanding of that term. But there is of course more to it. Some tracks heavily rely on acidic soundscapes that pulsate to the rhythm of the universe, while another just enjoys the ‘reinterpretation’ of […]

LXC – Connewoodz

Here’s another recommendation for the breakbeat lovers out there. LXC rereleased a ton of material from 2001 to 2008. “Connewoodz” is a disturbing portrait of a long-gone era of Leipzig’s – or more precisely Connewitz’ – break-heavy history. Again, this EP shows the versatility of an artist who dedicated his life to drum breaks and heavy basslines. While the tracks mostly fit into the realm of Drum and Bass and Jungle quite well, there is also a special vibe to all of them. It’s the oddness that makes the release stand out – and not easy to categorize. You can’t […]
