AUSNAHME + ZUSTAND – All Cores Are Broken 13.12., Leipzig

Yo, people of the Hardcore as you may have heard we will have our latest party as Ausnahmezustand next weekend on the 13.12. It was a great time, but now it’s sadly time to say goodbye. As much as we enjoyed the last 15 years, we had to pay a toll that was not only financially devastating. But screw it, we will have our final event very soon and hope to see many of you again. Let’s celebrate this lineup with us and enjoy ourselves one last time. For this special edition, we went all in and decided to do […]

Scared Money Records – Signal For Jamaica

As you may have heard, Jamaica was hit severely by Hurricane Melissa. The country in the Caribbean suffers terribly and needs help. If you want to help, you can find an organization of your choice or maybe consider buying this EP from Scared Money Records. The label will donate everything to The American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ). Since it feels a bit wrong to focus on the release now, it’s definitely worth noting that the 14 tracks on this release are super good. Absolutely top notch Ragga Jungle business through and through. But yeah, as good as the release is, […]

DJBadshape – Dubcore Volume 27

So far, we only knew DJBadshape as a rough and tough DJ, but were unaware of her producing skills. Thus, we didn’t expect such a breathtaking – or maybe better floor breaking – EP. For the latest installment of the Dubcore Series, this is number 27 already, DJBadshape provided four tracks that could broadly be categorized as Jungle. The tracks show the wide range this aspiring producer is capable of. No track on this release sounds like the other, yet they all feature a specific signature sound. You can tell at all times that they are still related somehow. One […]

Kamikaze Space Programme – Tosei Gusoku

This EP on Grey Meta is one the spaciest releases we had here in a while. “Tosei Gusoku” is an interesting piece of contemporary electronic music. On the one hand it is very calm and an introspective listening experience. When I heard the first notes playing, I immediately thought of some ambient similar to Boards of Canada or the like. The sound design is incredibly soothing and it’s wonderful to listen to this. In contrast to that, the last two tracks feature chopped up breaks galore, yet they didn’t loose this eerie space vibe. It may even lift the extraterrestrial […]

Infinity Division – Satisfaction

Even though this album has been out since April, it did not find us until very recently. “Satisfaction” by “Infinity Division” is a superb LP that features 13 tracks in total with some guest appearances by hard electronic masterminds such as Baseck. From the first to the last track this album stands out and delivers ruthless Jungle and Breakcore vibes mixed with Hardcore aesthetics along with some ravey vibes – and occasional beautiful vocals. While the sounds and atmospheres sometimes feel oldschool, it is still a futuristic piece of music that does not only rely on nostalgia. It adds new […]

I:Gor – Lost and Found

Even though the previous I:Gor remaster came out not that long ago, he didn’t waste any more time and released this amazing remaster of some “Lost and Found” tracks. Again – believe it or not – this stuff is hard as nails and brings joy to every Hardcore head. The release includes twelve tracks from his early days. Recommended to basically everyone who’s into distortion. LOST and FOUND by I:GOR Records

MOTUS – Bloody Feet MixTape 04-25

A fellow DJ from our home area recorded a set for Bloody Feet. Motus is nearly deaf, but still mixes better than most DJs with an active sync button. The mix features lots of Drum and Bass but most of the time with an unhealthy dose of amen breaks. A mix for people who dig Tech Step and high-end drum programming. This guy is also doing live streams on a regular basis. Make sure to check this out, too! twitch.tv/motus_vinyl

Suck Puck – SOOTH 01

Ok top be honest, it is always a tough challenge to describe what’s going on with the Suck Puck compilations. But this time, it’s basically impossible to come up with a solid review. “SOOTH 01” is a new assortment of only the strangest music you can imagine. Don’t expect to understand anything going on here, but you should be able to feel it. There is a lot to discover that once more questions even the broadest concepts of music. This is an experimental glitchspace that knows no boundaries any longer. Most tracks feature dreamy, even magic atmospheres that sound familiar, […]

LXC – Connewoodz

Here’s another recommendation for the breakbeat lovers out there. LXC rereleased a ton of material from 2001 to 2008. “Connewoodz” is a disturbing portrait of a long-gone era of Leipzig’s – or more precisely Connewitz’ – break-heavy history. Again, this EP shows the versatility of an artist who dedicated his life to drum breaks and heavy basslines. While the tracks mostly fit into the realm of Drum and Bass and Jungle quite well, there is also a special vibe to all of them. It’s the oddness that makes the release stand out – and not easy to categorize. You can’t […]

Various Artists – Reformulated

The most recent release by Grey Meta features a nice selection of remixes of Anorak’s “Reformulated” EP on the label from 2023. All 7 tracks follow their individual direction that span a wide range of music. This audio excursion into rough territory includes Breakcore, Hardcore, Jungle, Techno and lots of other genres that can barely be defined. With tracks by DFZD, Dolphin, Scheme Boy, Jacob, Technoist, MacheeeN Boi and Anorak himself, you know that you can’t go wrong. Each track features its own characteristics, but also manages to draw a clear line to the originals. And of course, the breaks […]

Deformer – Instruments of Torture

After so many years, Deformer still delivers. His latest EP “Instruments of Torture” is another statement that shows that his creativity simply knows no boundaries. For the first two tracks he teamed up with the Death Metal vocalist David Vincent from Vltimas and I Am Morbid and presents an outstanding blend of both worlds. The s´other tracks are not less intersting. “Everything is Dead” features is quite catchy, while “The Messiah Complex” celebrates hitting vinyl with this EP. As usual the production is excellent. Just listen to these incredible drums, they sound so fucking good. Instruments of Torture by DEFORMER

Christoph De Babalon – No Favours

There are only few people out there who can disassemble their breaks like Christoph de Babalon. But it’s of course not only the breaks. As usual, everything sounds organic and thoughtfully put together. ‘No Favors’ is an unmatched record with uncountable layers of breakbeats, sound- and noisescapes, and of course haunting melodies and rhythms. The flow of the record is unique. A great release that really sets the tone for more adventures into darkness. Each track carries its distinct vibe and thus create sinister atmospheres you’ve never heard of before. The whole EP feels like a cozy jacket of nothingness […]

Humb- Everyday Junglist Podcast-Episode 584

Humb’s mix for the Everyday Junglist Podcast is just a blast, featuring tons of heavy weight ragga jungle. A decent mix with lots of movement and wide variety of tunes. Sure, at times a bit too cheesy, but all in all super rough breakbeat deconstructivism for the jungle massive! Tracklist: LQ & Midnight Dubs – ’96 Neck SnapperShenseea – Be Good (Humb Bootleg)Humb – Bull MastiffSticky – Triplets (Humb Dub)Humb – Seh GwanAlgorithmic – Busta DomesAlzoc III – TERMIN8RAlgorithmic – Pump ActionPapa Shanti – UniversalHumb – Hardcore Trend (DUB)Humb – Shut UpHumb – Stop It (DUB)Arcane – Aguila (DUB)Humb – […]

Tension & Distortion with Eye-D (The Outside Agency, Ghost In The Machine) – THE FUNKY TRACKS #05

Well, usually talking about and listening to music at the same time can be annoying as hell, but in this case, it’s working out smoothly. Geck-O aka the Funky Cat invited Eye-D (yeah that guy from the Outside Agency and Ghost in the Machine) for his show called ‘the Funky Tracks’. The format is pretty cool and gives artists such as Eye-D an opportunity to talk about tracks they love, that inspire them, feature elements they dig a lot (apparently, it’s choirs for this fella), and also about their own productions. This is the perfect show for people who want […]

Interview with Mathlovsky

Believe it or not, it’s been 8 years already since we invited Mathlovsky to come to Erfurt in 2016. It was our first Ausnahmezustand party at AJZ Erfurt after we left Gera. So many things have changed since then for us but also of course for Mathlovsky. Reason enough to get back to him and ask him a few questions about what he’s been up to lately. And well, apparently, there is a lot to discover about his past, present and future! If you want to read more on his upcoming album, future art projects and lots of good music […]

Recordings BREAK DÆFENCE G16/Leipzig 21.09.24

Even though the recorder somehow quit during the night (we feel you), we could capture some absolutely noteworthy sets from an incredible event. It was a blast from the beginning to the end. Special thanks to LXC for recording and preparing the files! Seriously what a night! Of course, in the name of everyone I thank everybody for this great unforgettable party. The vibe was excellent and as far as we can tell, you thought the same. Such an incredible crowd and unmatched lineup. All the acts of the night were outstanding. I rarely have witnessed something similar in a […]

SUCK PUCK – Fuk The Borders 11

The latest Fuk The Borders compilation is surely a big one. It’s hard to pin down what’s on there exactly, but it’s worth discovering. Without a doubt it’s an excellent collection of super strange music. When people say that music is boring nowadays they clearly have not heard of this stuff. For 9€ it is also a bargain!   Fuk The Borders 11 by Suck Puck Compilations

Sydney City Chiptune Ministries – Chipbreak Alliance

For some reason the aesthetics of chiptune music along with crushed breakbeats create a very peculiar vibe. Of course, this somehow always triggers some nostalgia, be it from video game soundtracks or early rave records. This grittiness has been captured so perfectly with the “Chipbreak Alliance” compilation by the Sydney City Chiptune Ministries. While the name alone means serious business, so does also the compilation itself. With a compilation of this size, you wouldn’t believe that there are so many good tracks on it. The range of tracks is wide and every one of them features a ton of breaks. […]

Somatic Responses – Fragments EP (Remixes & Sample Pack)

Well, this time, you can not only get your hands on some decent tunes, moreover you can get a whole sample pack on top for free. Actually, the EP was originally released 2 years ago on Dancefloor Impact Research and now has been rereleased along with the samples on Somatic Responses’ own bandcamp account. All 3 original tracks by Somatic Responses are as usual unmatched. Especially convincing are also the additional 3 remixes by FFF, 1clap and Enduser. Each and every track on this EP delivers a rich and colorful palette of sounds. The whole release sticks out due to […]

Christoph de Babalon – Ach, Mensch

As one of the most interesting breakbeat scientists out there, Christoph de Babalon always surprises with unmatched sound design. The EP “Ach Mensch” is no exception to that rule. It features four incredibly well programmed tracks, each unique in its own terms. Drums grow organically while haunted, dreamy soundscapes lead the way. Every single track carries a melancholic vibe along that sets the mood for the next 22 minutes. The strange and orchestral EP simply knows how to deliver atmospheres that just hit the sport. Despite the EP being on point at all times, it somehow manages to remain abstract […]

Mathlovsky – A Violent State Of Excited Delirium EP

The next release is especially for those of you who can appreciate a proper breakbeat deconstruction. The “A Violent State Of Excited Delirium“ EP by Mathlovsky features four extremely well crafted tracks, each with their own twist. While some could be more described as dreamy and technical, others are full on slammers that do not mess around. Mathlovsky provides us here with an exceptional acoustic journey that offers variety in a time that gives a fuck about ingenuity. The whole EP is clearly worth a listen, especially since it is completely free (donations are welcome). The sound design is really […]

KRYTIKA @ Komplex 175

Even though he has been around for quite a while, especially recently Krytikas’s tracks and mixes had a lot of impact. The most recent recording from a party is no exception. This mix reminds me of some good old hardcore drum and bass parties. The sound and the tracklist are great, hard and in your face, but not too much for the dancing crowd to bear. DEFORMER – THE HARDCORE REMIXES

Holy crap, this came rather unexpected. Rotterdam’s one and only Mike Redman aka Deformer released a remix EP of some of his tracks along with Prspct. On the EP some of hardcore’s true legends appeared such as Angerfist, the Outside Agency, Neophyte, Drokz, Tripped, Dolphin and N-Vitral (even though this remix sadly did not reach my eardrums very well). Seriously, this is the cream of the crop. It’s hard to pick a favorite at all, since all tracks deliver their own interpretations of already mind-blowing original Deformer tracks. Just check them one by one and you’ll understand the hype. In […]

Ruby My Dear – Smooth Working EP

This magnificent release by Ruby my Dear popped up on Bandcamp recently and is just incredible. While the French mastermind is already known for having an intimate relationship with breakbeats, this release adds some madness to the mix that has not been heard yet. The drumming is simply insane. Completely hectic and off the grids, but precise and always on point. But it’s not that alone that makes the EP stand out. The excessive acid overflows and the support of the moody melodics helps to slightly level out (or even amplify) the weirdness. All in all, the EP sounds just […]

Amboss – Basic Training (praxis_01001)

Known as a Breakcore and Drum and Bass veteran, Amboss returns to Praxis Records with a 10 track album. The album is a collection of previously unreleased tracks which were written between 2000 and 2003. Accordingly, this album is for everyone who wishes to go back to the early 2000s and to the relentless breakbeat violence from this era. All tracks feature severely destroyed soundscapes but in the best way possible. You could even go that far and call it a timeless release. For 5€ you receive a bunch of pretty cool tracks, so definitely consider it! Basic Training (praxis_01001) […]

Evasion, Conman & Mod:CoBlind Sighted

Right in between Jungle and Drum and Bass sits this excellent piece of breakbeat wizardry. The free album by Evasion, Conman & Mod:Co Perfectly shows how heavy basslines can be. With a timeless sound design it shows versatility and sounds classic but still futuristic. The Polish label Offish is also offering all their digital releases for free. Maybe consider spending some time on their bandcamp page. There’s a lot to discover from dozens of incredible artists. Blind Sighted by Evasion, Conman & Mod:Co

APHELION 2023 – Ohm Resistance

Hell yeah, here’s the next completely free release for you. This compilation on Ohm Resistance from Estonia comes with a whopping 23 tracks ranging from Drum and Bass to Crossbreed, some Hardcore, but also very slow and sludgy electronics. Yeah, it’s pretty cool, seriously, the variety of artists on this release makes it really stand out. Since it’s free there’s also nothing to lose! Give it a listen and maybe consider donating a few bucks, if you want to support the label. APHELION 2023 by Various Artists

THE TEKNOIST – FMB MIXTAPE SERIES 228

This is definitely a true X-Mess gift. The Teknoist recorded an outstanding mix. The tracklist primarily deals with breakbeats within the higher BPM range. But there are also lots of kicks smashed together, so no worries, you’ll get what you want. Moreover, there’s an interview with the Teknoist on Feel My Biceps. In this interview, he talks about his DJ setup and what he’s up to. Apparently, you can only download the mixtape from the FMB homepage.
